Yelp reviews: what restaurant owners can and cannot do
Yelp works differently from Google. You can claim your page and reply, but Yelp asks businesses not to ask guests for reviews.

Step by step
- Claim your free Yelp page. Go to Yelp for Business and claim the page so you can edit hours, photos and the menu link, and reply to reviews.
- Keep your info the same everywhere. Same name, address, phone and hours as Google and Apple Maps. Guests and search engines notice when they differ.
- Reply publicly or privately. Yelp lets you reply in public under the review or send a private message. Calm and short works on Yelp too.
- Report reviews that break the rules. Yelp removes reviews that break its content guidelines, like conflicts of interest or reviews about something other than the guest’s own experience.
- Do not ask for Yelp reviews. Yelp’s rules ask businesses not to solicit reviews. Focus on a great experience and on your Google reviews instead.

About Yelp’s recommended reviews
Yelp’s software decides which reviews are shown as recommended. Reviews from new or less active accounts may be listed separately. This is automatic; Yelp says paying for ads does not change it.
