How to win back guests who stopped coming

Most guests who stop coming did not have a bad meal. They got busy or tried somewhere new. A personal note at the right time brings many of them back.

Step by step

  1. Notice who stopped. A regular who came every week and has not ordered in a month is the one to reach.
  2. Write like a person. “Hi Sarah, it’s Golden Bowl. We miss you!” Not “Dear valued customer.”
  3. Mention their usual. Remind them of the dish they loved.
  4. Give a small reason. Dessert on you, or double points this week.
  5. Send at their usual time. If she always ordered Thursday around 5, send it Thursday afternoon.

How EatFuti helps

EatFuti’s guest list marks who has been away about a month, knows their usual and their best time, and drafts the text. You approve and it goes out at that guest’s own hour.

EatFuti is in Des Moines, Iowa, and works with independent restaurants across the United States, most of all in Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas and Texas.

How it works with EatFuti

  2. Say yes. Send your photos and menu, or we take the menu from your POS or online. Online ordering is live 48 to 72 hours after signup.
  3. Your website goes up. Built for you from your photos, menu and reviews, right after ordering is live. You approve it before it goes up.

Questions owners ask

How long before I send a win-back message?

About twice the time between their usual visits. For a weekly regular, a few weeks to a month.

What if they do not come back?

Do not chase. One friendly note, maybe a second a couple of months later, then let them be.
